I offer services to support academic research and learning, including academic editing, formatting for publication, data analyses, writing and troubleshooting R code, and tutoring. I perform this work on a part-time basis.
Academic editing and formatting
My primary area of expertise is biology, with a focus on botany and evolutionary biology. I also have experience editing and formatting for other fields, including social sciences and health sciences. I am a very detail oriented editor - I find the errors that most people miss.
R code
If you need help writing or troubleshooting your R code, I am experienced with R packages including tidyverse packages, ggplot2, and phytools, among others. I also have a great eye for that missing comma or mismatched quotation marks.
Data analysis
I am proficient at phylogenetic analyses and related analyses (historical biogeography, trait evolution, phylogenetic diversity, etc.). I work primarily in R and phylogenetic software (BEAST, RAxML, BioGeoBEARS, etc.) but am also a quick learner of new software. I also have some Python and SQL experience.
Tutoring
I am qualified to tutor in high school and undergraduate biology (e.g., introductory biology, botany, genetics).

Services and Fees
FAQs
1. What are your rates?
Please see the Services and Fees section. For larger projects, we can discuss a set rate for the project rather than an hourly rate. Partial hours will be charged to the nearest quarter of an hour.
2. Do we sign a contract?
Yes, before starting on your project, we will sign a contract to establish the agreed upon rates, timeline for product delivery, and other details pertaining to the work (e.g., access to files, conditions for non-completion). An example contract can be found here.
3. How fast can you turn the product around?
I am conducting this work on a part-time basis, with most work hours done in evenings and on weekends. I will ensure that the product is returned by the agreed upon date. For smaller projects (1-5 hours), this would likely be within a week. For larger projects (>5 hours), the timeline would likely be longer, but would depend on several factors.
